Franklin Ajaegbu is the ‘Head Power Business’ at Viathan Group with an overall responsibility for business growth and strategic projects of the company’s captive and embedded power portfolios. He has over 10 years of commercial leadership and strategic programmes in the Nigerian Electricity Supply Industry (NESI), overseeing gas-fired independent power transactions (including Island Power, Peninsular Independent Power Project, and Lisabi Power), solar-based mini-grids collaboration, national-grid intervention projects, as well as grid electricity distribution and premium power retail.
Franklin joined Viathan Group [subsidiaries including Island Power Limited (IPL), Peninsular Independent Power Project (PIPP) Genco, Lisabi Power Limited (LPL), and Gasco Marine Limited (GML)] in the year 2021 as Head of Commercial Special Projects. Prior to joining Viathan, Franklin worked at the Port Harcourt Electricity Distribution PLC (PHED), leading energy efficiency programmes, donor-intervention projects, and premium power transactions. He is very passionate about energy security in Africa.
Franklin holds a Master of Science (MSc) degree in Energy Economics and Policy from the University of Surrey, United Kingdom, as well as certified by Lagos Business School, Energy Institute (EI) London, and International Energy Agency (IEA) Paris.
