Lady Cheta Nwabuike is a Governance, Compliance and Sustainability Practitioner. She is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators of Nigeria, an associate member of the Chartered Governance Institute in the United Kingdom, a member of the Chartered Institute of Directors, Nigeria (C.IoDN) and an associate member of the Women in Management, Business and Public Service (WIMBIZ). She is also a member of the Association of Environmental Impact Assessment of Nigeria (AEIAN), International Society of Sustainability Practitioners (ISSP), International Association for Impact Assessment (IAIA), Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment (IEMA), the Open Compliance and Ethics Group (OCEG) and the Institute of Compliance, Nigeria.
Cheta has many years of extensive work experience in business management and administration, company secretarial practice, corporate governance, statutory compliance, ethics, and business sustainability across various industries. She holds a B.Sc.Ed. (Hons) from the University of Lagos, and two MBAs; from the Lagos State
University in which she specialized in Human Resource Management, and the other from the University of East London, United Kingdom in which she specialized in Management. She is currently a Doctoral candidate of Management at the Catholic University of St. Anthony of Murcia in Spain. She has received several international trainings including trainings on Sustainable Business Strategy at Harvard Business School and on Leadership and Governance at the Wilfried Laurier University, Canada.
Cheta’s professional experience cuts across various industries within which she has worked, and these include the communication, manufacturing, oil, gas and power industries. She currently works with the Clean Energy Group in Nigeria (a subsidiary of Clean Energy Holdings, UK) which comprises of the following companies, CE Power
Solutions Nigeria Limited, Power Gas Global Investments (Nigeria) Limited and Gentec Energy Nigeria Limited. Cheta serves as an Group Executive Director in the group and oversees the Legal, Compliance, Health & Safety, Environmental, Social & Governance (E.S.G.), Human Resource & Admin arms of the business. She has worked as Company Secretary for many years and currently seats on the Boards of several companies.
Until very recently, she served as a member of the Governing Council of Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators of Nigeria and chaired the Governance and Nominations Committee. She was also the Vice Chairman of the Implementation and Monitoring Committee of the governing council and Vice Chairman (Power and Renewables) ICSAN Energy Sectoral Group . She is a member of the Energy and Power Committee and a member of the Director Development & Certification Committee
(DCCC) of the Chartered Institute of Directors, Nigeria.
She is a certified International Finance Corporation (IFC) trainer on Corporate Governance. Cheta has facilitated numerous workshops and trainings on corporate governance, corporate sustainability and ESG principles, compliance, board effectiveness, leadership and so on, for various companies and corporate boards, government parastatals, not-for profit organisations and professional institutions. She is a member of faculty of the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators of Nigeria, the Chartered Institute of Directors, Nigeria and the Nigerian Exchange Group (NGEX) and has partnered with several other training academies to train organisations and institutions.
She is passionate about learning and impacting knowledge. She volunteers her time to grooming and mentoring younger people. She is a devoted wife and mother.
