Tari Tebepah is a seasoned business and commercial lawyer with nearly two decades of experience spanning both the private and public sectors, with a focus on the energy industry. She has in the course of her career been involved key roles in government relations, corporate governance, and regulatory compliance. Currently, she serves as the Legal Manager, Legal Corporate Services, Assets Operated by Others, and People Services at Total Energies EP Nigeria Limited, where she leads a legal team responsible for safeguarding the interests of TotalEnergies’ upstream operations in Nigeria.
Tari has a proven track record in managing high-stakes legal transactions, including those related to oil and gas assets, renewable energies, tax, risk & insurance, and finance, while also spearheading initiatives in company arrangements and divestments. She has been integral in ensuring the protection of TotalEnergies’ investments, particularly in onshore and offshore energy projects, through providing legal advisory services and managing complex contractual processes. Her expertise extends to regulatory compliance, efficient management of disputes, and litigation, including cross-border litigation, where her proactive management of compliance has significantly reduced litigation risks for the company.
With an academic background that includes an MSc in Sustainable Energy Development from the University of Calgary, an LLM in Energy Law and Policy from the University of Dundee, and a Bachelor of Laws from Rivers State University, Tari’s deep understanding of energy security, sustainability, law and policy, positions her as a thought leader in the field. Tari is currently a member of the following bodies: Nigerian Bar Association, International Bar Association, Association of International Energy Negotiators and Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators (as an Associate).
She is happily married with children.
